GREEN MATAR KI TIKIYA
I think,green matar/peas is only a kind of vegetable which everyone is very fond of,irrespective of age. There are varieties of dishes you can make with this green globules,and I have tried and tasted many of those. Here,sharing one of those ----which can be enjoyed as a starter or evening snacks. Shallow fried to make this a healthier version.
Preparation time : 20-25 mins
Cooking time : 15-20 mins
No.of servings : 4-5 persons
Ingredients :
- Fresh green peas/matar - 5 cups
- Ginger paste - 1 tsp.
- Garlic paste - 1 tsp.
- Red chilli pwd - 1/2 tsp or acc. to taste
- Roasted cumin seeds / jeera pwd - 1 tsp
- Garam masala pwd - 1 and 1/2 tsp
- Roasted bengal gram / chana pwd (coarsely ground ) - 3 tbsps
- Green chilli - 2 nos.
- Onion - 2 medium
- Cornflour - 2 tbsps
- Salt - acc. to taste
- Desi ghee / oil - for shallow frying
Preparation : Slightly boil the peas in water with little salt. Strain well
Chop the onion into small pieces.
Grind the roasted chana into coarse powder.
Cut the green chillies into small pieces.

Method :
- Crush the peas coarsely
- Take a bowl,and put the crushed peas in it.

- Mix well with hand.

- Smear some ghee / oil on a griddle / tawa and allow to heat.
- Put the tikiyas into batches,and fry on both sides,till brown. Fry on slow to medium heat.
- Serve hot with tomato ketchup and green chutney
Suggestion :
1.Care must be taken on boiling the peas,that it should be half - boiled. After straining, put,the peas immediately into the cold water to retain its green color.
2.If needed,extra oil or ghee can be added,little by little on frying the tikiyas.
3.If roasted chana is not available.slightly roast besan / gram flour, and then add.
