ONLINE MATAR PANEER RECIPE
It is a very popular Indian cuisine,specially in north and central India. I always prefer to use freshly-made paneer, because of its softness and good taste.
Follow the steps below and the dish will come out delicious.
Preparation time : 25 – 30 mins.
Cooking time : 35 mins.
Servings : 2-3 persons
Ingredients :
- Paneer (cottage cheese ) – 500gm
- Shelled matar ( peas ) – 2 cups
- Garlic paste -1 ½ tsp
- Ginger paste – 1 tsp
- Coriander ( dhania ) – 1 ½ tsp
- Red chilli pwd – ½ tsp
- Turmeric (haldi ) – ½ tsp
- Sugar – ¼ tsp
- Onion paste – 10 tsp ( made out of 3 medium – sized onion )
- Tomato paste -10 tsp ( made out of 2 big tomatoes )
- Oil -2 tbsp
- Dalchini -1 inch
- Cloves -2-3 nos.
- Green cardamom – 1-2 nos.
Method :
- Cut the
paneer into small cubes.
- To
make the garam masala paste, grind dalchini,cloves and green cardamom together
with little (1-2 tsp ) water and make a paste.
- Heat oil
in a pan. Put the onion paste and fry on medium flame,stirring occasionally
till the moistures dry up and the paste gets light brown in color.
- Add
garlic paste,ginger paste,coriander pwd,red chilli pwd,haldi and salt,mix well
and stir for a min.
- Put the
tomato paste. Cook for 2 mins.
- Add the
peas. Stir and cook on low flame for 7-10 mins.until the oil separates from the
mixture and the peas get cooked.
- Add the
sugar and mix well.
- Now,pour
two tea cups of warm water and add the paneer cubes along with the garam masala
paste.
- Allow to
boil for 2 mins.on medium flame.
- Switch
off the flame and cover with a lid for 5 mins.
- Serve
warm with rice,chapattis or parathas.
Suggestions :
- Green coriander (dhania) leaves can be added after the step no. 7
- Frozen matar (peas) can be use,when fresh ones are not available. In this case.the peas should be wash very nicely.
